As part of commemorating International Women's Day this year, TANLAP in collaboration with TAWLA under Mwanamke Imara Project coordinated the provision of legal aid services at Ikamambande village, Lwangwa Ward, Busokelo Council, Rungwe District in Mbeya Region. Advocates provided legal education to various matter such as land and matrimonial. Clients were able to receive legal education, while health protocols amid the COVID- 19 were observed. TANLAP will continue to provide legal aid services to client as part to ensure access to justice under Mwanamke Imara Project.
Yesterday TANLAP had the opportunity to attend a one day training on Electoral Dispute Resolution(EDR) organised by Tanganyika Law Society (TLS) at Wakili House. The training which involved particpants from CSOs and Media aimed to enhance skills and knowledge on the Electoral Process and Elections Dispute Management Strategies.
Earlier today on 11th February 2021, TANLAP had the opportunity to convene a seminar with members of Parliament of the United Republic of Tanzania including members of TWPG to discuss the role of TANLAP to enhance access to justice, human rights, gender issues, promotion and protection of women's rights and provision of legal aid services in Tanzania. Earlier today on 1st February 2021, TANLAP had the opportunity to attend the closure of the Law Week in Dodoma. The Law Week was commemorated marking 100 year of Judiciary in Tanzania. The guest of honor of the event was H.E. Dr. John J. Magufuli - The President of United Republic of Tanzania. In his speech, the president called upon the Judiciary to enhance the use of Swahili Language in the course of discharging justice to the people. The event was also attended by senior government officials from the Executive, Parliament and Judiciary.
