ADR TRAINING TO SELECTED TANLAP MEMBERS

On December 7, 2023, TANLAP conducted a training session for selected Legal Aid Providers and Paralegals on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), justice delivery processes, and their responsibilities in providing legal aid. The training was led by Dr. Clement Mashamba, an Advocate, Senior Lecturer, and Accredited Arbitrator and Mediator. ADR plays a crucial role in improving access to justice in Tanzania by offering an efficient, cost-effective, and culturally sensitive method of resolving disputes outside of formal courts. This approach helps address challenges within the traditional judicial system and alleviates its burden. ADR, including mediation and arbitration, promotes inclusivity by respecting diverse community values. Paralegals and Legal Aid Providers have the important role of empowering individuals to resolve conflicts expeditiously, contributing to a legal environment that is responsive to the needs of Tanzanian citizens. Ultimately, ADR significantly enhances the overall delivery of justice in the country, ensuring a more accessible and effective legal system. The training took place at the Corridor Spring Hotel in Arusha.
