Legal Support Network on Family Law Issues meeting with Hon. Dr. Damas Ndumbaro (MP)- The Minister for Constitutional and Legal Affairs

TANLAP continued with a working session of the Legal Support Network on Family Law Issues established under Mwanamke Imara project. The aim of day two sesion aimed to consult Hon. Dr. Damas Ndumbaro (MP)- The Minister for Constitutional and Legal Affairs on the need of having a specific Anti Gender Based Violence (GBV) Act. During the session, Ms. Christina Kamili - TANLAP Executive Director presented the proposed Anti- GBV bill, the Code of Conduct for Family Law Practitioners, and the analysis of various laws that currently addressing GBV in Tanzania, which appears to have challenges in addressing GBV comprehensively. The Minister committed to continue working with TANLAP under Mwanamke Imara project to ensure a Specific Anti GBV Law is enacted. The proposed Act is expected to harmonize the existing laws addressing GBV. The event was held in RITA tower in Dar es Salaam on 30th August 2022.
