Enhanced Access to Legal Aid and Participation in Democratic Processes
TANLAP has significantly improved access to legal services for marginalised and vulnerable populations, including women, children, and the impoverished, resulting in a notable increase in individuals receiving legal assistance, particularly through collaborative efforts with government agencies, the judiciary, and international organisations. In addition to enhancing legal aid, TANLAP has also played a vital role in promoting democratic processes by conducting analysis of electoral laws, providing voter education, and leading an election observation mission for the local government elections in 2024. These initiatives empowered citizens with knowledge about their voting rights and the electoral process, fostering informed participation in democracy and ensuring transparency and accountability during the elections.

Capacity Strengthening and Training
The network has concentrated on training legal aid providers and paralegals to enhance their skills and knowledge, thereby improving the quality and effectiveness of legal services provided to clients. This capacity-building initiative has been supported by partnerships with development organisations and educational institutions.
Engagement and Advocacy for Legal Reforms
TANLAP has actively engaged in advocacy to influence legal and policy reforms, contributing to the development of a more supportive legal framework for access to justice in Tanzania. Notably, TANLAP successfully advocated for the enactment of the Legal Aid Act of 2017 and the accompanying Regulations of 2018, working closely with Parliament and relevant government bodies.
Public Awareness and Community Engagement
Through outreach programmes, TANLAP has raised awareness about legal rights, empowering communities to comprehend and seek justice. It has promoted community-based legal services to reach underserved areas, exemplified by the engagement and coordination of Legal Aid Providers and Paralegals in the Mama Samia Legal Aid Campaign, which involved collaboration with various stakeholders, including government and international partners.
